Introduction to the School of Nanoscience and Materials Engineering The School of Nanoscience and Materials Engineering is mainly engaged in basic and applied research on nanomaterials and devices applied in the fields of future optoelectronic information and energy, aiming to provide source innovation for building the core technology system of the new generation of optoelectronic information industry. The predecessor of the college was founded in 1986. In 1998, the key discipline open laboratory of colleges and universities in Henan Province was established. It has successively become the key laboratory of Henan Province, the key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, the engineering technology research center of Henan Province, the engineering research center of the Ministry of Education, the international joint laboratory of Henan Province, the cultivation base of State Key Laboratory of colleges and universities in Henan Province, the collaborative innovation center of nano functional materials and their applications in Henan Province, the engineering laboratory of Henan Province, the backup laboratory of State Key Laboratory of Henan Province, and the national and local joint engineering research center of the National Development and Reform Commission. In June 2018, the School of Materials Science was established on the basis of the Key Laboratory of Special Functional Materials of the Ministry of Education and the National Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Efficient Display and Lighting Technology. It will be renamed as the School of Nanoscience and Materials Engineering in 2024 and is a new research-oriented college. The college currently has a total value of over 100 million yuan in large-scale instruments and equipment, with more than 120 fixed personnel, including 1 Central Plains scholar, 5 national level talents, more than 20 Henan Province science and technology leading talents/specially appointed professors, and more than 30 high-level talents at the university level. The research team has been selected as an innovation team by the Ministry of Education. We recruit and train master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral students in physics, chemistry, and materials science and engineering, as well as master's degree students in optoelectronic information engineering and materials and chemical engineering. In response to the urgent demand for high-efficiency materials and devices in the rapidly developing optoelectronic information and new materials, as well as new energy industries in central and western China, basic research has been carried out on the design and construction of nanostructured materials, surface interface photoelectric transfer characteristics, etc., focusing on the main research directions of quantum dot luminescent display materials and devices, self driven nano optoelectronic devices, high-efficiency thin film photovoltaic materials and technologies, and nano optoelectronic biological diagnosis and treatment materials and technologies. High tech technologies such as nano optoelectronic devices, quantum dot luminescent displays, and high-efficiency thin film photovoltaic cells have been developed, and key indicators of blue light QLED and some nano devices are at the international leading level. We have undertaken and completed over 100 national level projects, including the National High Tech Research and Development Program, the National Major Basic Research Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation Key Project, and the Ministry of Education Innovation Team, as well as over 100 provincial and ministerial level projects and horizontal projects.
